Moira Steggles, BA (Hons), M.A, PGDip.

I am a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I am also a qualified and registered Social Worker and Approved Mental Health Professional.

I am based both in the South Lakes area and also in Southport.  I can work both online and face-to-face.

I also currently work at the University of Cumbria, where I am Course Director on the IAPT Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Postgraduate Diploma Course.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an active therapy that helps a person to manage their problems by exploring how they think and behave, looking at how this may impact on feelings, such as low mood and anxiety.

It is my view that each person has the resources within themselves to solve their own problems. Sometimes, though, we can get caught up in unhelpful patterns of thoughts and behaviours and we need help understanding this and finding a clear route through. I can be there to guide you in exploring these patterns, challenge you with new ideas and support you in making any changes.

CBT can also be great for the practical relationship work that couples with difficulties often need. I have a Certificate in Couples CBT and have significant experience of working with couples, using this CBT model. I will support and challenge you both to talk and listen to each other and explore how each of you have a part to play in creating the difficulties you are facing.
